The Goodnicks
Sound Waves Alumni: 2017–2023
Celebrating ten years in 2026, Friday Night Sound Waves continues a simple belief: good music brings people together. Our anniversary season honors the artists and moments that have shaped the series since day one.
If there’s one band synonymous with “it’s always a great night,” it’s The Goodnicks.
With seven Sound Waves appearances to their name, they are among the most frequently featured bands in the series’ history—and every return feels just as fresh as the first.
Known for rich three-part harmonies and an expansive catalog spanning the ’70s through today, The Goodnicks effortlessly blend pop, rock, country, dance favorites, and original music into a show that’s high-energy, crowd-driven, and genuinely fun. Fronted by songwriter and vocalist Derek J. Laber, the band is anchored by musical director and keyboardist Jamie Armanini, with layered guitar textures from Ric Foss, rock-solid rhythm from bassist Tom Souvent, and powerhouse percussion from drummer Brian Chilluffo.
When invited back this season, the band shared they were on hiatus while Tom spent a year in Paris with his family.
The response was simple: what if we flew him back? We are!
Because some bands—and some nights—are worth it.

Six hours. Two full concerts.
A custom-built stage, rotating dancers in multiple costumes, a DJ between band breaks, countdown screens, and a laser light show at midnight. Thousands of people of all ages filled the park as The Goodnicks carried us from early evening straight through to 1:00 a.m. It was one of those rare, off-the-chains nights—joyful, communal, and unforgettable: an epic way to welcome a new year, and a defining Sound Waves moment.
