Shauna Sweeney
Sound Waves Alumni: 2017-2020
Celebrating ten years in 2026, Friday Night Sound Waves continues a simple belief: good music brings people together. Our anniversary season honors the artists, relationships, and moments that shaped the series from its earliest days.
Billed under her name, Shauna Sweeney brings a voice that is expressive, grounded, and instantly connective. Her Sound Waves performances have always felt personal—easy rapport, strong presence, and a natural way of drawing the audience in.
Equally central to this story is Chris Monteleone, frontman and lead guitarist of SOSOS, whose musical leadership and long-standing relationship with Sound Waves runs even deeper. Chris introduced Shauna to the series, and he and his band returned repeatedly in the early years—helping shape the Sound Waves sound and community long before it became a decade-long tradition. The image says it quietly: this night is collaborative by nature.
While Shauna leads the billing, the spirit of the evening reflects years of shared history and musical trust—artists who know how to step forward, step back, and build a night together.
#MySoundWavesMoment:
During COVID, when the stage disappeared and the city went quiet, Friday Night Sound Waves found another way to gather. We took the series to the airwaves—bringing live music into people’s living rooms as part of a Find Your Beach moment that reminded everyone why music still mattered.
Shauna Sweeney and Chris Monteleone shared the night online, each performing from home and passing the baton between sets. In between, we stitched together video clips so the audience never lost the thread—moving from one space to another, still connected.
It was also during this time that Shauna wrote a COVID anthem just for Sound Waves, “Happy Thank You Yes More Please.”
We invited alumni musicians to record their parts from home and wove them together into a single, collaborative performance—keeping the music alive, the community visible, and the spirit of Sound Waves moving forward when we needed it most.
