Joel DaSilva
Sound Waves Alumni: 2016-2023
Celebrating ten years in 2026, Friday Night Sound Waves continues a simple belief: good music brings people together. Our anniversary season honors the artists and moments that have shaped the series since day one.
Few artists embody the heart of Sound Waves quite like Joel DaSilva. A guitarist, singer, and songwriter with deep Chicago blues roots and a global musical lens, Joel brings a sound that’s raw, soulful, and unmistakably real. His music blends blues, roots rock, garage soul, and Americana into something entirely his own—driven by instinct, history, and endless momentum.
At Sound Waves, Joel’s appearances have evolved into something special. Each return becomes an All-Star Blues Jam, curated by Joel and fueled by the best blues musicians in South Florida. Nothing is scripted. Songs stretch, musicians rotate, and the night unfolds as a true musical conversation—different every time, always alive.
For this All-Star Blues Jam, Joel is joined by an exceptional lineup of musicians:
John Grillo on drums, Robert Sherber on bass, Kevin Muncy on saxophone, Scott Rowell on keyboards, and Rockin’ Jake on harmonica and vocals. Together, they bring depth, spontaneity, and a shared language rooted in blues tradition—ready to follow the music wherever it leads.
#MySoundWavesMoment:
In 2016, just days after Prince’s passing, Joel DaSilva took the stage and sang Purple Rain. As the song unfolded, the sky shifted to a soft lavender hue, and a light mist began to fall. You may not see it on video—but if you were there, you felt it.
In the years that followed, Joel returned with ever-evolving All-Star Blues Jams, sharing the stage with some of South Florida’s finest musicians, including Rockin’ Jake, Kat Riggins, Lauren C. Mitchell, Keith Crupi, Josh Rowand, Bad Apples Brass Band, Robert Sherber, Austen Erblat, and more—each night shaped by generosity, surprise, and deep musicianship.
From Earth Day fundraisers to one of our first post-COVID reunions, Joel’s appearances have never felt routine. They’ve felt intentional. Rooted. Necessary.
