Las Olas Oceanside Park is one of Fort Lauderdale’s favorite pet-friendly gathering places. With open green space, ocean breezes, and a relaxed community atmosphere, the park offers a wonderful setting for a stroll with your four-legged companion before or after exploring The MKT weekend market.

Celebrating Pets at The LOOP

Throughout the year, The LOOP celebrates the special bond between pets and their people. Each February, the park hosts Fur the Love Pet Fest, a community event that brings together pet lovers, local businesses, and animal organizations for a day of pet-friendly vendors, activities, and experiences for dogs and their humans.

Spring offers even more opportunities to celebrate our furry companions. April brings National Pet Day and Pet Parents Day, while May’s National Pet Month and Dog Mom Day encourage everyone to spend a little extra time enjoying the outdoors with the pets who bring so much joy to everyday life.

Visitors strolling through the park and The MKT during the spring months may even find small treats or pet-friendly giveaways at the market info tent while supplies last.

A Dog-Friendly Park Experience

Las Olas Oceanside Park is part of the City of Fort Lauderdale’s growing network of pet-friendly parks, giving dog owners more opportunities to enjoy public spaces with their companions.

Whether you’re visiting the weekend market, meeting friends for a walk, or simply relaxing beneath the palms, the park offers a welcoming setting where dogs and their humans can enjoy the coastal atmosphere together.

Before bringing your pet to the park, please review the City of Fort Lauderdale’s pet guidelines to help ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.

City of Fort Lauderdale Pet Rules

In November 2024, the City of Fort Lauderdale passed a new rule allowing domestic, non-service dogs in all 110 parks across the city. This initiative allows pets to enjoy more public spaces while helping ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for all visitors.

When visiting Fort Lauderdale parks, please keep the following rules in mind:

  • Dogs must be on a leash or tether no longer than six feet.
  • Pets must be under the control of an adult owner or handler at all times.
  • Pet owners are responsible for cleaning up after their pets.
  • Aggressive pets may be removed from the park by the city.
  • Pets cannot create excessive noise that disturbs others.
  • All dogs must have current vaccinations and a license.
  • Pets are not allowed in athletic fields, courts, playgrounds, water splash pads, swimming areas, beaches, or any body of water, unless permitted by law.

Canine Beach

Fort Lauderdale also offers a designated Canine Beach, where dogs can enjoy time on the sand in specific areas.

  • Dogs may play off-leash in designated zones.
  • Dogs must remain leashed in other areas of the beach.
  • Weekend permits for Canine Beach are available from the onsite ranger for $7 per dog.

By following these guidelines, we can help ensure Fort Lauderdale’s parks remain a welcoming and enjoyable environment for everyone to experience.

Whether you’re enjoying a walk through Las Olas Oceanside Park, exploring The MKT, or simply taking in the ocean breeze with your four-legged companion, we look forward to seeing you at The LOOP.
