The National Senior Games presented by Humana, comes to Greater Fort Lauderdale, Florida from May 10-23, 2022.
As the the largest multi-sport event in the world for men and women 50 and over, athletes from all around the nation will converge on our shores during the biennial competition.

We welcome our area locals, visitors and fellow athletes to join in on the celebration at the following free to the public events.

2022 Flame Arrival Ceremony

Let’s get the party started! Athletes and locals mingle and celebrate the opening of The Games as the torch flame arrives and ignites the ceremonial cauldron. We promised you beaches, and our very first gathering will put you there! Get ready to kick off “A Reunion For the Ages” with the 2022 Flame Arrival Ceremony to be held Wednesday, May 11 at Las Olas Oceanside Park (LOOP). The LOOP is a recent $65 million park upgrade that created a space for public events, and it’s the perfect outdoor setting for athletes to meet and celebrate the return of National Senior Games. Movies by Moonlight, presented by Humana

Thursday, May 12, 5pm – 10pm; Movie begins at 7:45

Join us for Movies by Moonlight on the Main Lawn at Las Olas Oceanside Park. Come early to dine at our curated food trucks, Rocked & Loaded, The Juice Somm and Tony’s Waffles –  or take part in a post-game’s yoga class at 6:00 pm led by South Florida’s leading yoga educator, Lisa Pumper, before the show.

The Yoga Class will feature a full mind/body Yoga stretch routine will help you recover so you can be prepared for your next day of competitions and act as a respiratory rejuvenator with mindful movements and breathwork to switch from sympathetic (energy expenditure) to the parasympathetic (energy production) for athletic performance and mental health. Movie snacks and drinks are available to purchase onsite; chairs and picnic blankets are available to borrow. FREE.  Register Online

Friday Night Sound Waves, presented by the City of Fort Lauderdale BID and Humana

Slide off your shoes and slip into the weekend! Friday Night Sound Waves, the free weekly concert series presented by the City of Fort Lauderdale’s Beach Business Improvement District, welcomes locals and visitors, the young and the young at heart, to enjoy some of South Florida’s best musical talents, performing an eclectic range of genres, including Jazz, Latin, Country, Top 40, Indie, and Oldies. Attendees are invited to come early to enjoy a variety of pre-concert activities, ranging from lawn games to shopping the local vendor marketplace, which features a rotation of food, drinks, clothing, jewelry, antiques, and crafts to enjoy before, during and after the show.

Las Olas Oceanside Park Farmers Market

The Las Olas Oceanside Park Farmers, Antiques and Artisan Market features an eclectic array of traditional fare including fresh produce, cheese, baked items, plants, handmade goods, jewelry and more. Plan ahead and participate in the OutFIT Training HIIT Class from 8am – 9am or Yoga on the Lawn with Lisa Pumper from 9:30 – 10:45 am.

Join local health and wellness non-profit, FLIPANY, as they team up with Humana for complimentary cooking demonstration from 11:30 am – 1pm. May is Osteoporosis Month. Flipany’s certified chefs and dieticians will discuss the effects of food on good bone health, as well as prepare and serve samples of their homemade skillet granola and fruit parfait you can easily make at home. This is a combination opening and closing ceremony held in the middle of the event schedule that celebrates the achievements of the athletes. Here is where the pageantry happens, including a stirring Parade of Athletes and a warm welcome is extended by the host cities, celebrities and dignitaries. FREE
