This winter, one of Fort Lauderdale’s most enduring and meaningful community traditions returns as Friday Night Sound Waves celebrates its 10-year anniversary season, running January 30 through April 3, 2026, at Las Olas Oceanside Park.
Presented by DiscoverFTLBeach.com and the Fort Lauderdale Beach Business Improvement District, Friday Night Sound Waves has been free and open to the public since its very first season, welcoming locals and visitors alike to gather by the ocean for live music, connection, and community.
What began in 2016 as a simple invitation to ‘slide off your shoes, slip into the weekend, bring a blanket, and bring a friend’, has grown into a shared experience shaped by the people who showed up, week after week. Over the past decade, the series has welcomed nearly 130 bands and more than 700 individual musicians, creating a soundtrack that reflects the diverse music scene in South Florida and the heart of the community it serves.
2026 Friday Night Sound Waves Lineup

Each of these artists represents a chapter in the Sound Waves journey — moments that brought people together, sparked new friendships, and helped transform Friday nights into a tradition that continues to grow.
Opening night will hold special meaning as the season begins with a Tribute to Miles Davis, honoring the late Roger David Viele, who helped shape Friday Night Sound Waves from its earliest days. A Juilliard-trained horn player, Roger believed deeply in the power of music to transcend language, age, and background — and in its ability to bring people together in the most human way.
“For ten years, Friday Night Sound Waves has been about more than music — it’s been about people coming together, week after week, to share something real,” says producer Ari Glassman. “Roger helped shape this series from the very beginning, and honoring him through this opening night feels like the most natural way to begin this milestone season.”
We invite you to take a moment to explore the Honor Roll below and revisit the artists who helped shape this journey. And if you were part of those nights — dancing, listening, laughing, or simply being there — we’d love for you to share your memories with us.
Share your favorite moments using #MySoundWavesMoment, or upload your photos here, and help us continue telling the story of the music, the people, and the moments that made Friday Night Sound Waves what it is today.
Thank you to every artist, every attendee, and every supporter who has helped shape this journey.
This season is for you — and for all the moments still to come.
